First time in a long while I am working on a canva First time in a long while I am working on a canvas. It is a canvas that previously had been used for an art installation and now I decided to give it a second life. I used watercolour, added cutouts from magazines and now stitching connecting lines, so that all the pieces can come together. Connecting culture and nature into one. As it talks about our connection to everything that surrounds us. This weekend I was celebrating my birthday and it feels like it was such a beautiful memorable moment. Celebrating birthdays might seem like nothing special, until you actually think of all the different people coming together and connecting in the most interesting ways. So simple but so energising at the same time. All this energy generated by strengthening connections. It makes me think of the power we have when working together - to create and grow together. I visualise a beautiful network we are building when exchanging ideas. Yesterday we were hanging an exhibition at the old Yesterday we were hanging an exhibition at the oldest independent cinema in Vilnius. It is a group exhibition by @atvirukasukrainai project. The project raises money for Ukraine through the sales of postcards featuring pieces by various artists. /// Paroda @skalvijoskinocentras laukia lankytojų. "Culture - Nature" 🌱🏙️ I believe it matte "Culture - Nature" 🌱🏙️ I believe it matters how we perceive and how we talk about nature and culture. We tend to take the meanings of these words as given, but in fact they are quite blurry. The word "nature" in ancient Greek, Latin or Lithuanian(which is my native language) comes from "birth". But how we understand what it stands for has been changing throughout history. Nowadays we talk so much about protecting nature, but it is difficult to be completely sure what do we mean by that. Perhaps the most widespread idea is that nature is something opposite from human activities. But are we not nature? Are we not from this Earth, sharing our lives with interconnected cultures of nature? I say cultures of nature, because it is not only a word that describes human activities. It can also be used to describe a habitad with suitable conditions for growth. So if we are all linked in an intertwined network, should we not consider ourselves as part of the picture? And if we do so, then we should take care of ourselves and one another. And by that I mean taking care of all the parts that connect us together in this natural network.
